Everyone is invited to come and join us for a night of singing praises to God. Pray for Brandi Hatter and family in the passing of her mother Tammy Olmstead. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We also have a lot of sickness, bereaved and unconcerned in our community, we ask daily prayers for their needs. Reporter - Jackie Chapman.

Poplar Springs - This month has been a very busy, but a very blessed month at church. First, we had our homecoming. Bro. Ira Lolly preached. “Saving Grace” provided the special music. That opened the door for the Holy Spirit to save one young man. However, Jesus wasn't done providing miracles that week. The next day thru Thursday, we had a revival. Yes, we truly mean revival. Bro. Tommy Hannah preached. He reminded us just how much God wants for his children, IF we let him have his way. Along with that, we had a mom get saved. She had always been a blessing to our church, because she taught our young children, but Jesus knew what she needed. Now, Bro Ed, being led by the Holy Spirit, called another preacher (Bro. Danny Glover) to preach that Friday. His obedience allowed for a young man to find salvation. Then, on July 25th, we had a baptism service. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we had eight, yes eight, people get baptized. That just proves that God has big blessings to reveal in small churches too. We want to thank you Lord for allowing us to see these miracles. Reporter - John D. Hickey.
Lakeview - As some of you may know I recently had shoulder replacement surgery and have not been able to send in a report. Thank you for all your prayers, and I hope to be back at the CMC soon. Today, 8-15-10 we had 6 youth baptized this morning, 5 from VBS. We will be having a singing the 5th Sunday of this month with a pot luck lunch afterwards. We do this every time there is a 5th Sunday in the month. Also coming this fall we'll be having a Fall Festival. I'll let you know the date later. Reporter - Alice Folker.
Abernant - It will be hard to top the homecoming celebration we had the third Sunday in August. Many thanks to the men who worked so hard to get the electrical and plumbing work done for the installation of our new ice maker, just in time for homecoming. We were treated to a wonderful meal prepared by the ladies of our church. Then, if things couldn't get better our guest singers, "To The End," blessed our souls with good ole gospel music. It will be hard to top this, but if I know Abernant folks they can come up with even more next year. We were also blessed with specials by some of our church members, and guests. The W.M.S. met the first Monday in August, at the garden of Kay and Neil Pope. Peggy Holley was our hostess for the evening. Peggy's niece, Brenda, sang "The Lighthouse" for our group, and her voice is truly a blessing from God. The summer heat did not keep our ladies from enjoying an evening of laughter and the program on having a merry heart. The old lodge building next to our church has been torn down. Who knows what is ahead for us with this vacant space available for growth. I am sure Bro. Simpson has wheels turning in his head with ideas for the future. We pray for all the churches in our association as we begin our new church year, may we all be a light in the communities that surround us. Abernant will soon be making plans for our Fall activities, fun times with friends and family are just around the corner. Blessings to you and your family from Abernant. Reporter - Judy Kennedy.
Hepzibah – The children's dept. had a lock-in on August 13th, with 38 children in attendance and 9 adults. The gospel was shared with the children and lots of fun & food was enjoyed by all. Youth will be going to En Fuego on August 28th, in Verbena, AL, with David Nasser as the speaker. Remember the End of the Year Party August 29th, after the morning service, bring a covered dish. This is really a surprise party for a certain person but I can’t reveal the name. (If you don't know who it is, it might be you)! The Ladies will be going to a women's conference in Dec. “Deeper Still”, Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, & Kay Arthur are the featured speakers. The Men are making preparations as well for a men's conference in Atlanta, featuring Pastor Johnny Hunt. And lastly, we are having a competition between the age over 40 group known as the “Gray Hair's” & the age 39 & under known as the “Young Whipper Snapper's”. They will be competing in bowling, free throwing basketball and throwing washers. I'm sure the “Young Whipper Snapper's” don't have a clue about throwing a washer! As you can see many things are going on at HBC. God is still blessing us with growth, we had 3 baptized this month. God is good! Reporter - Susan Kennedy.
Big Hurricane - Church members have voted to continue the enjoyable Wednesday "Home Church" Bible studies. The Bible studies, is followed by dessert and fellowship, at the homes of volunteer hosts/hostesses, with different study leaders each time. They have been so successful we will continue them into the fall. Wednesday business meetings, and special events will continue to be held at the church. Sunday evening Discipleship Training for September, will be an in-depth study of "The Prayers of Jesus" based on video presentations by seminary Bible professors followed by discussion time led by the pastor. In the near future we have two more baptisms to celebrate and later in the Fall, our church anniversary. We are fast approaching our two hundredth year! Reporter - Aileen K. Henderson.
Little Hurricane - I am happy to report that we are doing well. We had a wonderful Vacation Bible School. We are also enjoying our new ramp to access the sanctuary. We are happy to report that we have a new Pastor! Brother Clay Gibbs, his wife Beth, and their two daughters Carol Ann, and Ginny Grace, joined us on August 1st. On August 29th we will have "Songs of Faith" as our guest for 5th Sunday Night Singing. May God bless our efforts for Him and yours also. Reporter - Louise Shelton.
